Engineering Water Report
Summary
An engineering firm conducted a detailed hydrogeological investigation to assess the availability of reliable and usable groundwater beneath the approximately 15,000-acre property and nearby areas. The investigation focused on the potential for developing the following water resources:
- Irrigation supplies of at least 7,000 acre-feet per year
- Municipal and/or industrial supplies of at least 22,240 acre-feet per year (twenty million gallons per day) from wells located on ranch properties
- Municipal and/or industrial supplies of 50,000 to 100,000 acre-feet per year (45 to 89 million gallons per day) from wells on the ranch and adjacent areas in Northeast Texas
Conclusions
- The property can develop sufficient groundwater supplies to meet irrigation demands of 7,000 acre-feet per year from the Paluxy Aquifer. However, due to high sodium and chloride levels, special water, soil, and crop management practices may be required.
- The property can support long-term groundwater supplies of at least 22,240 acre-feet per year (20 MGD) from 9 to 13 wells located on-site. Wells could be spaced approximately 2,500 feet apart, with pumping depths between 750 and 850 feet.
- The property could likely produce over 50 MGD from nearby and adjacent areas within Red River and Lamar counties.
- Groundwater from the property and extended areas will likely be slightly saline, with TDS concentrations ranging between 900 and 1,400 mg/L. The water can likely be blended and/or treated for suitable use.
